Southdale Pediatrics offers COVID testing for both symptomatic and asymptomatic patients.
For patients with symptoms, we recommend evaluation in our office to help determine what is causing your child symptoms. If a COVID test is indicated, we perform COVID PCR testing. Tests collected Monday through Thursday will be reported between 24 to 48 hours later. Tests collected Friday and Saturday will take up to 5 days to return. Results will show up on your child’s patient portal account. You will only receive a call from our clinic if your child tests positive. We do not have the ability to notify families of positive COVID results when the clinic is closed, but they are viewable on the patient portal at any time.
If your child has an exposure to a person who tests positive for COVID, our pediatricians can help to determine if and when testing is indicated. Patients who are asymptomatic will be scheduled for a telehealth visit with one of our pediatricians. Testing for asymptomatic patients is done in our Edina office. Results will be reported on the portal within 3-5 business days.
If your child has a high risk exposure to COVID, it is still the recommendation of MDH to quarantine for 14 days after exposure, even with a negative test result. We know that each school has its own policy, but we are following MDH guidance on this topic.
