“I love Southdale Pediatrics! Since the birth of our first child in 2005, we have consistently received compassionate, quality care by our regular provider and all others. We especially love the nurse line. The Advisors are always supportive and helpful. ”
Susan
“We are very happy with the doctors at Southdale Peds. We drive from Lino Lakes to get here and think it's definitely worth the long drive!”

When your baby is ready to leave the hospital, the pediatrician will advise you about when the baby’s first office visit should happen. This will often be in one to five days. Please call Southdale Pediatrics to preregister and schedule this initial visit at (952) 278-6940.
Remember to add your baby to your insurance. Most insurance plans require newborns to be added within 30 days of their birth. Please contact your employer’s Human Resources department or your insurance plan as soon as possible. If your plan requires you to select a primary care physician, select any Southdale Pediatric Associates provider and you will be able to be seen at any of our offices.
Having a baby is one of the most joyful experiences of your life. We look forward to helping you raise your child into a happy and healthy adult.
Attend prenatal classes through your hospital or other community resources. These classes provide you with important information and give you an opportunity to ask questions and address concerns that you may have about your new baby.
Schedule a prenatal visit. We encourage expectant parents to schedule a complimentary prenatal visit. This provides parents with an opportunity to meet and interview one of our providers and visit with our staff. It’s also a chance to learn about our practice philosophy and familiarize yourself with our clinic. To schedule a prenatal consultation, call the office you would like to visit and schedule a prenatal appointment.
Install your child’s car seat. You will not be allowed to leave the hospital with your newborn without a safely installed car seat. Please have your child’s car seat installed ahead of time. You can look up local car seat inspection sites at www.buckleupkids.state.mn.us.
It’s wise to register at your chosen hospital ahead of time if possible. Our pediatricians are on staff to see newborns at Fairview Southdale, Fairview Ridges, and Abbott Northwestern hospitals. When you register or are admitted to the hospital, please tell them that your baby will be seen by Southdale Pediatrics or give them the name of your pediatrician to ensure that your baby will be visited by one of our providers. Your baby’s pediatrician or a colleague will examine your child each day that he or she is at the hospital.
If you deliver at a hospital where our pediatricians are not on staff, they will arrange for another physician to see your baby while you’re in the hospital. You will be discharged by your obstetrician, but your baby must be discharged by a pediatrician before you can both leave the hospital. After your release, call us to schedule your first well-baby visits.
