“We have been coming to Southdale Pediatrics since our oldest was a baby. She is now a junior in high school. I can't imagine a better doctor's office for our three children. We've always had the best care at every appointment whether it be minor or major. I'm glad my youngest is twelve so I have a few more years of the great care here at Southdale Pediatrics. It's nice to know if we need to be seen on that day, we can be. We know, whichever doctor we get, that we will get great care. Over the years my children have seen about every doctor at Southdale Pediatrics. I don't think there is a bad one in the "bunch".”
“We have had a good experience so far with Southdale Peds. Our doctor is patient and complete. All the doctors we have seen have been great. I appreciate the nurse line when I have questions as a new mom and we have been able to get same day sick child appointments which eased my mind as a new mom.”
Southdale Pediatrics is pleased to announce that we have flu vaccine available for the 2013-2014 influenza season at all of our offices. We are now able to provide both Flumist ("the nasal spray") and injectable flu vaccine ("the flu shot").
Please note that Flumist ("the nasal spray") is not used (and cannot be given in our flu vaccine clinic) for children under two years of age (or for adults over 49 years of age), for those with asthma, for those who have a tendency for wheezing episodes, for those who have received a live virus vaccine in the last one month (for example the MMR or the chicken pox vaccine), or for those with a variety of other chronic health conditions. Your pediatrician can advise you about these issues. These and additional restrictions for Flumist are listed on the consent form you will review before receiving the vaccine.
Please review the questions on the consent form and if you answer “yes” to any of these questions you CANNOT receive a flumist in the flu vaccine clinic, it can only be considered when being seen in the clinic by a physician. Click here to review the consent form.
No flu vaccine is currently approved for use in children under 6 months of age.
If a child under 9 years of age is being vaccinated for influenza, two doses of the vaccine are necessary for the first flu season they receive the vaccine. Also, if a child under 9 years of age has not received at least two prior doses of flu vaccine since July 1, 2010, then two doses of flu vaccine will be required this season. (There are special exceptions for children under 9 who have received 2 doses of seasonal flu vaccine before July 1, 2010 plus a dose of the special 2009 H1N1 vaccine and for children under age 9 who have received one dose of seasonal flu vaccine before July 1, 2010 and one dose in a prior season after July 1, 2010. These children require only one dose this season.) Your pediatrician can advise you in unclear or special situations.
Patients who are being seen for an appointment in clinic with the doctor or nurse practioner (and any siblings or parents who are along with them) may receive the flu vaccine at that appointment if their clinical condition permits.
Separate appointments to simply receive the flu vaccine may only be scheduled online. You will need to use our online scheduling system to see if any appointments are available. IF THE ONLINE SCHEDULING SYSTEM SHOWS NO DATES ARE AVAILABLE FOR AN APPOINTMENT OR IF THE SYSTEM DOES NOT ALLOW ACCESS TO APPOINTMENT SCHEDULING, THIS MEANS THAT NO APPOINTMENTS ARE CURRENTLY AVAILABLE. Please use online scheduling, if possible, to cancel your appointment if you no longer need it, so vaccine can be made available to others. Please feel free to try again another time if you are unable to obtain the appointment you desire.
We are also pleased to announce that again this year we will be able to administer FLU VACCINE TO PARENTS. If you (as a parent) would like to receive your flu vaccine through Southdale Pediatrics, please preregister by calling 952-278-6940. Once pre-registered, you may schedule an appointment as usual through the online link above. You may also receive a flu vaccine if you are in clinic accompanying your child to your child's appointment with a doctor or nurse practicioner.
Online scheduling is currently only available for flu vaccines. If you wish to schedule an appointment for any other vaccine please call our future appointments number (952-278 6939 [Edina and Eden Prairie] or 952-997-1555 [Burnsville]).
If you are an established patient of Southdale Pediatrics (or a preregistered parent), please click on "Schedule My Flu Shot online" and you will be redirected to our online scheduling site.
